Big portions!!! The cashiers could use a touch of friendliness and some smiling; and a lot less make-up. The food is prepared quickly. When we visit, the place has a couple tables occupied but never full. We were waiting for our food (possibly 10-15 minutes) and one table was never cleared. It was adjacent to the kitchen and yet, this one guy refilled the ice for the beverage machine and refilled the water for the tea. Attention to detail is key; too bad he still passed that table table and ignored it...twice. But I find it funny how the other staff members were chatting and being lazy. Food quality is good and abundant. Staff needs help on smiling and personalities. Cleaning tables should be done within 5-10 minutes of customers leaving the restaurant. One order = a lot of flipping food! ______ ______ |\ \ |\ \ | | to go| | | to go| | |_____| | |_____|

Yuck! This place was way too pricey and food was bad. Maybe fast for a sit down restaurant but slow for a drive thru. Fries are the most bland I've had, only edible if covered in ketchup. If they don't salt the fries they should at least include salt in the bag. Gyro wasn't good, sauce was running out of the paper and was sour. Philly steak was just ok, cheeseburger was decent but just because of the ketchup.

I may be biased here since I'm not a hardcore breakfast eater, though teds has always hit the spot for me. Their breakfast burritos are made bulk and chubby with quality and love. Their prices are set for a "bang for your buck" perception, though just know you aren't reducing your cholesterol levels anytime soon when you dine at this place. Try it out. This place is Laguna Niguel's best kept secret.

If you like huge portions, come here. If you like fried food, definitely come here. My family and I have been coming here for the past ten years, and it's by far our most favorite diner! The classics are served here, and again, are huge portions. Grilled cheese with french fries, different types of burritos (wet or dry), and delicious breakfast entrees. French fries, fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, and fish and chips are all served here. Hope you're ready for a food coma after! You can also call-in orders so that it is ready when you arrive. :)

Me and my family come in here practically every Saturday for breakfast. Today I happened to order something different and went with the pancake combo. I finished a little more than half my pancakes and I find a hair in the middle of pancakes. REALLY! I go and inform one of the ladies behind the counter and let her know that I do not want another plate. You would think that they would give me a coupon or something since it is clear the hair was from when they mixed the batter. Mind you that none of the waitress's wear a hair net. I do not think that I will be order that again. I might come back but a coupon would have been nice since the black hair clearly was not mine since I am blonde.

I am lowering the review again. After passing the business to a relative the prices just went up and food portions are becoming smaller. This previous buzzing place was kind of dead this morning during best breakfast hours. Even the 4 cop cars parked in front of the restaurant must have gone somewhere else. This used to be a local workers favorite spot. Time to close and move over for someone else to have a fresh start.

Finally got around to trying this place. Thought it was great that they had such a diverse menu! (Drive thru waffles?? Heck yes!) Unfortunately, I was super disappointed. First time I went through the drive thru, the food was nothing special, just had french fries and a shake, but it was overpriced for what it was. The second time convinced me that I will not be returning. While the woman who took my order was courteous, she seemed preoccupied and made mistakes entering the order and I had to go back up to the counter and get it changed. They also apparently stop serving waffles at 2pm for some reason even though there were other people there who had waffles, so that was pretty disappointing. I tried a sandwich with onion rings instead of a waffle and my boyfriend had a burger and fries. It came to a total of almost $30!!! WHAT?! So ridiculously overpriced. The food was... ugh but the onion rings were absolutely inedible (stay away, seriously). Overall just bummed this place didn't live up to some of the other reviews on here, but I won't be back.

A great local diner that's been around for years. The menu is fairly extensive and you can find every type of diner food possible. I primarily come for their breakfast items served all day. The pancake combo, like all their dishes, are huge and I can usually feed two of my kids with one order. If I'm not ordering breakfast, I typically get the Super Burger combo. Ted is often their working himself and all his staff is friendly and helpful.

Everyone in my family loves the food here. So if my review is strictly food then 4 stars. The problem I have is service. They are super slow and have on most occasions messed up my order. I now check my order before I leave, which frustrates me even more. Because if it's wrong I have one of two choices. Either live with it or wait another fifteen minutes. Anyway, that's my two cents, food 4 service 1.

Ample portions at this long standing diner style restaurant. Comfy booths to sit in while you eat your big meal. Different choices of coffee, including decaf. The coffee's not that great and the food is decent, in my opinion. I liked my breakfast burrito here better than the chicken breast sandwich I ordered on my previous visit. A lot of fries were included with the sandwich; I think they were unsalted. They weren't bad, but certainly not my favorite. I got the BBQ sauce for the sandwich on the side and it was watery and unimpressive. It didn't really have a kick to it either. The next time I went, the breakfast burrito was tasty and finished pretty quickly. There are other choices than egg, if I recall correctly, they had egg and bacon and egg and ham, too. I'd say this wasn't the greatest, but the item was good enough. There are better places for breakfast burritos (Alerto's in Fountain Valley), but in our area, there is no Alerto's. Sad, isn't it? Anyway, getting back to Ted's, the place has been around for a long while and seems to have good business. I've only been here for dinner and breakfast, so I may not be the best judge of how they're doing. In our area, there are often coupons in the junk mail for Ted's. Different types of foods are available, including Mexican, Italian, a Breakfast Menu, and more. Going back here for breakfast is fine with me every once in a while.

We love Teds Place! Our family has been going for breakfast there for 18 years and the portions , quality and service have remained consistent! Easy to split a breakfast with someone as the portions are huge! Great hangover breakfast. Yummy pancakes. The only decent biscuits and gravy in town. Fresh squeezed OJ. Love Teds.

I have heard great things about Ted's Place. The first time I came here (I think it was the day before Christmas eve) I was very excited to try it. I got off work early and was STARVING, pulled into the drive thru to place my order and sat at the box for about 10 minutes before I drove up to the window to see what was up. I stopped at the window where you pick up your order and they saw me but ignored me, I waved at them until they opened the window to tell me they Knew I was at the order box but they were closed. Umm, how about a courtesy sorry Maam we are closed when I was sitting there? That was very disappointing and really didn't show that they cared too much about customers. Second time I went there for breakfast with a friend, We had a few cocktails the night before and needed some food to soak up the previous nights festivities. I ordered a breakfast burrito and french fries. The burrito was decent and so were the fries, nothing to rave about. Third and last time, I went for a burger and fries dinner. Was greeted by an unhappy person at "the box". Ordered my burger and fries (NO ONION). I pulled up to pay and get my order and was greeted by the unhappy person who flippantly gave me my order. I was left scratching my head as to why a customer is being treated in such a manner. I got home to enjoy my burger I have heard rave reviews about and it left me wishing I had just went to habit or in n out to get my burger fix. Not to mention I guess when you say no onions that means pile those suckers on at Ted's place. Hmmm two bad experiences and one decent burrito - I think I will take my business elsewhere

This is our Go-to spot for hangover food, late night food, breakfast food, and pretty much any time food =) It's an awesome spot because they offer such a variety of cuisines that you can please multiple guests with different cravings with the same restaurant. The best part of the restaurant is the salsa/condiment bar. They have complimentary chips with salsa, pickled jalapenos & carrots, and grilled serrano peppers with garlic and onions. Always good to have something to munch on while you're waiting for your food. The service is always quick, and there's rarely ever a line inside. We'll do the drive-through here and there, but we mostly stick with eating in the restaurant. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. The best hangover meal that I recently discovered there is their wet burrito. It's literally the size of a newborn baby, and oh so delicious! They serve it with a side of rice and beans- yum yum! My other go-to: Blueberry pancakes Gyro Salad Bacon Cheeseburger Sausage Breakfast burrito Corned Beef & Hash breakfast special

Simple but good quality food. The portions are generous and the food comes out quickly. They offer free tortilla chips with a variety of salsas, jalapeños, pickled veggies. We ordered breakfast and all three of them were delicious, coming with hash browns and toast: hot links and eggs, chorizo and eggs, chorizo avocado cheese omelette. My brother has been there for lunch and says the food is good at that time as well!

I tried this place for breakfast finally. Usually, I get a breakfast burrito at ROSE BAKERY CAFE in Corona Del Mar. The breakfast burrito is decent, and even very good, but that is by low standards compared to bad fast food places. Compared to other burritos I have had that cost only about $.50 more, this was absolutely horrible. I am never, ever getting this again. The hashbrowns in the burrito were not cooked distinctly enough to give it texture. Not to mention, the potatoes had pretty much no taste. In fact, the ingredients here seem very low quality. The bacon was not good either. Again, very low quality. Formed tough chewy balls. The only thing I would say was good about the burrito, is the avocado. The avocado tasted good. And there was enough of it. The small coffee I ordered, on the other hand, for a whopping two dollars, had absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It tastes just as bad as the horrible coffee you sometimes get at a very bad, bad doughnut place. Like dirty sock water.b honestly, even bad gas station coffee has more character. So, for almost $10, worst breakfast experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place to anybody. If perhaps, it had a really cheap price like a fast food place, then I could compare it to that category. But with their normal to high prices, I am comparing this to similar establishments of the price range. Summary: low quality food; expensive for what you get.

I came in because I was told the Hash browns were great here. Mine were dry, overlooked and greasy. The prices are ridiculously high. I was sorry I came here. Will not come again.

What a great breakfast! Ted's in Laguna Niguel is a great cafe style stop for breakfast or lunch with a huge menu that's guaranteed to please any craving... Everything from breakfast burritos, omelettes and waffles to burgers, spaghetti and enchiladas. This morning I filled up on the #6 Ted's Special with 3 eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Toast too... Going to try and make it a habit from now on.

Ted's Place is two-quarters greasy diner and one-half fast food joint ... complete with a drive thru window ... making Ted's one unique local restaurant for Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel. I pulled in for some pancakes (sadly not blueberry) and breakfast while texting my wife. Olivia: What restaurant is it? Me: It's a diner, baby. Olivia: What diner is it? Me: It's Ted's. Oliva: Who's Ted? Me: Ted's dead, baby. Ted's dead. ... { cue "Bullwinkle" by the Centurions (1963) } ... I honestly have no idea if Ted's dead (or real), but I was hungry and ready to get medieval on his #5 Hot Cake Combo Special ($7.69). It was time to wake the gimp in my stomach and stuff it with 3 Eggs (Scrambled), 3 Hot Cakes, and 3 Bacon Strips. The pancakes were fluffy & fabulous while the eggs and bacon were ok. Overall 3.5 stars. The order process at the counter was a little off, but the food was brought out to my table relatively quick. It may not be a thrill to eat at a place like Ted's Place, but it is A-OK. Besides, I suspect nobody thrills anybody in this place of business 'cept Maynard or Ted. Oliva: How was your breakfast? Me: It was good... Olivia: Did you get the pancakes, the blueberry pancakes? Me: No, no, I didn't have blueberry pancakes, I had to get buttermilk ... And so began, without a doubt, the single weirdest day of my life.

This is a mixture of you. Their breakfast are amazing as well as the breakfast burritos. They definitely do these right and it's worth checking out these monsters if you never have. The rest of the food is just like what you would expect. Mediocre burgers, overcooked chicken sandwiches, decent fish and chips. There's also is also good with unlimited chips. They can be a little bit pricy though

  • Naomi L.

Good portion size but still expensive. They're special combo prices aren't that great. It's a no tip type place. Philly steak sandwich was overwhelmed with green bell peppers. They need to decrease amount of it because all I tasted were bell peppers. That was disappointing. Their beans taste awful and nothing Mexican about it. That's why I won't order their Mexican combo meals. Their big fat breakfast burritos, fish and fries, all American breakfasts are delicious. I give them 3/5 because every damn year, the prices increase.

My first thought was, what a great place, why haven't we been before?! The menu had little of everything. We ordered chicken and waffles, the waffle combo, and a side of homemade hashbrowns. The waffle combo arrived as ordered. Then the chicken strips arrived a few moments later. Sadly, the chicken strips arrived with no waffle. That waffle and the hashbrowns were never delivered. We waited about 10 minutes. No sign of anything else coming our way. We notified the service staff and they explained that our food had been forgotten by mistake. This was so unfortunate because i was surely destined to love this place, until that happened. Luckily, we were able to hunt down a staff member to get a to-go box. We had waited too long for our food, and lost our appetites and we were out of time. What a disappointment.

My favorite place when I'm in Laguna!! Ted's has the biggest menu and such a large selection. Perfect place to go if your friends can't decide what kind of food they want to eat. Theres burritos, burgers, pasta, fish and chips, sandwiches, and breakfast! All the entrees are pretty big so perfect for sharing! First, they have free peanuts and chips and salsa. The orange fountain drink next to the horchata is very delicious. I forgot what it's called, but its like a creamy orange drink. Very tasty! I've gone here so many times, but my all time favorite is the sausage breakfast burrito! I love breakfast burritos and this is the best I have ever had so far! It is quite filling, I don't think I have ever finished one by myself. Or if I have I probably food coma'd and felt like a whale after! I tried the bacon breakfast burrito before too, but sausage all the way! I've been wanting to try their other breakfast foods, but I always end up getting the burrito. The breakfast entrees all sound very good and a lot of people order them so I don't think you could go wrong with that option either. Fish and chips are delicious as well if you are looking for something fried. Huge pieces of fried fish. I believe there are 2-3, but they are ginormous! Zucchini friends and onion rings are delicious! Super large portions, should be shared with a large group! If you are craving sandwiches, the BLT or tuna melt are amazing. BLT is stacked with bacon, so delicious! Tuna melt is also filled with tuna, also veryyy tasty. Those are my GO-TO dishes. Writing this review makes me want a breakfast burrito...

It's 2014, most of us are fat, out of shape and eat like pigs. So no greasy spoon should get 5 stars. However, 4 stars is ok. :) Good Food. Good Service. What more could one ask for - maybe crispier hash browns

Best breakfast burrito in South OC...egg whites, sausage, hash towns, extra salsa and avocado. It can get busy there but it's well worth the wait. They have delicious flap jacks as well and the huevos rancheros is pretty good too!

  • Kelly M.

I've been here a few times and I really, really want to love this place - but I don't. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. They actually have some pretty yummy stuff. The gyro is delicious, the free chips & salsa is nice too. Outstanding customer service. Great "diner" atmosphere. I highly recommend avoiding the huevos rancheros. The ranchero sauce is sweet and too tomato-y, beans are bland, and the whole dish was so hot that my egg yokes were overcooked. They must use some kind of cheap oil or fat for cooing everything because the potatoes are always soaked in it and it has a particular oily flavor that pervades everything. Also, every time we've eaten here, my husband and I both had sick stomachs directly afterwards. They have Pepsi products. But they make up for it by having good iced tea. I'll probably go back but not for breakfast. I think they do better with lunch & dinner.

The food is really more of a 2 star but I will bump it up to 3 because of the generous portions for the price (especially for south county standards). So like other Yelpers have pointed out, the portions here are gigantic. From salads to burgers, they all look like they have been super sized. You get your usual choices of diner food, from fried chicken to tacos to fish 'n chips. There are also complimentary tortilla chips and an interesting salsa bar with grilled jalapeños. I tried the fish 'n chips that everyone raved about and honestly, they were not very good. They came out crunchy but in the time it took to take a photo and add vinegar, the pieces of fish became super soggy, especially underneath. The fish was mushy and I think it was cooked when it was still kind of frozen as the fish exudes so much moisture that the batter underneath was super soggy. The fries were not seasoned at all. The cole slaw was actually pretty good and not too wet or salty. I also tried the tapioca pudding. For $0.99, you get a huge plastic cup (16+ oz I would guess) of it and they offer it with whipped cream. It is very cinnamon-y. It's not the best ever but for $0.99, I probably would eat it again.

This place is great it's a diner so food is either perfect or terrible, no in between! The staff is friendly and the menu is huge, great bonus that you get free coffee! Great place to go and eat on a budget and starving...

It's much better than fast food but not quite a full service restaurant. Some of their food, greasy though it may be, is actually pretty darn scrumptious. I wouldn't recommend the steak, but the gyros are pretty good and their Buffalo Burger is great.

Went on a lunch break at work. It took a long time in the drive threw. But places like this normally are. Any way onto the grub. I ordered the gyro and upon opening it, it looked as if it had half a red onion on top. After pealing them off and noticing a French fry in there. Then another and another I start digging threw and pulled out what seemed to be a order of small frys in there. I don't know if this place is known for that but I'll take my fries on the side. Thank you very much.

I love Teds!! My bf and I come here at least once a week for their AMAZING breakfast burrito. We get their sausage breakfast burrito with no salsa inside. It is always amazing and we get their free chips and salsa. Their tomato salsa... It is absolutely the best. Honestly the main reason we come here is for that salsa. Service is okay. We are regulars so some of the waitresses know us and know what we order all the time. There are some who are friendly but some have mean faces... Well who cares, I like their food so 5 stars for that!

I have been going to Ted's for about 15 years. They offer a large menu with the normal greasy spoon dishes: egg plates, omelettes, breakfast burritos and burgers. The drive thru is a hassle with a longer than usual cue but I have always found the service to be friendly, albeit rushed because they are working hard. The best experience I had was going through the normal routine of ordering and waiting in the cue. I realized that I had forgotten my wallet. The lady at the cash register recognized me, spoke with Ted (I'm assuming) and they gave me my food and asked me to pay later. I don't forget gestures like this. First thing I did after wolfing down my breakfast burrito was going back to Ted's and paying for my food. It's hard to find service like that any more.

My family has been eating at Ted's since I was a baby. Huge portions for a reasonable price, lots of variety. While fads come and go in OC, Ted's remains a classic.

I was special ordering a cheeseburger kids meal with sauce and cheese only in the drive-thru, the lady wouldn't let me finish, she kept yelling "what kind of drink!" "what kind of drink! "what kind of drink!" She was rude and angry. No social skills whatsoever. I just left and went somewhere else.

Without a doubt the WORST breakfast burrito I've ever had. Service wasn't exactly stellar either. And they have the nerve to charge me 50 cents for the worlds smallest side of sour cream. To expand on the worlds worst breakfast burrito, it was heavy and of course full of potatoe. No meat hardly whatsoever. On top of that, it simply tasted horrible. When you can't even get potatoes right, there are serious problems. My first and last time there. Sad too because I was hoping for a nice little local breakfast spot.

Located in a non descript building surround by a sea of chain restaurants, Ted's place doesn't seem like much from the outside. Boy was I wrong. Teds was suggested by a friend as one of the best spots for brunch in Orange County. He was spot on. Aside from the awkwardness of waiting in line to order brunch with a massive menu of traditional and mexican favorite, this place nailed it. Huge portions. Delicious pancakes. Chorizo and eggs to die for. Just make sure you bring your antacid of choice for dessert. Nice bathrooms. Efficient staff. Not much else to say. Great spot and I will return. Boom.

So I'm new to the area. A transplant from Coastal OC and like to eat at places that are off the beaten path. I'm a huge fan and supporter of the 'mom and pop shop' and even more so when it is a quality product. I heard about Ted's place from an older co-worker of mine a couple months ago and just remembered it recently when I was trying to find a good place to eat. I have to say, I am a fan. I had guests over and it's always a risk trying a new place when you have your friends over....and you happen to be the foodie in the group, but Ted's delivered. I got their double cheese burger and pretty much special ordered the heck out of it and they made it perfectly. It was also probably in the top three biggest burgers I've ever eaten in my life. I got cheese fries w/grilled onion as well and a side of fried mushrooms...just in case the portions were small. Yeah, I didn't finish anything. I only managed to hurt myself trying. I even put the food down and came back to it after a few minutes. The place was so good we all actually went back the next day to order different things. On the weekends I would say to call ahead so your food is ready, and it's ready pretty quickly. The other items I saw when I went to pick up my food looked great. The staff was very nice and the prices are insanely reasonable for the quality of food and the portions you get. Definitely a fan and this is my new 'mom and pop' go to place for some good grub.

I've been eating at Ted's forever! Pretty decent breakfast menu. Portions are massive. Particularly the amount of hash browns you get. I haven't had much dinner here so I can't comment about that. What I love is that I can drive thru at anytime and order breakfast. I love the biscuits and gravy but I try to stick with something less calorie ridden like a breakfast burrito. I'm going to rate 3 instead if 4 stars because there have been weekend mornings where l'll be in the drive thru for what seems like forever because the place is packed and they've forgotten something and I don't realize it until I'm already home, like once one whole omelette was missing that I paid for.

Not closed on Sunday's as yelp states. This place has always been a favorite of mine however more recently the customer service has really been lacking especially in the drive thru. The food is still excellent IMO it would just be nice and easier to give my money to someone who has manners and some form of common courtesy. If they had that part covered I think I may come more often. Just my 2 cents.

Love this place! Free chips and salsa, free coffee, great food and huge portions. Don't come unless you are starving! I saw the owner tell a lady to piss off because she returned her eggs like 3+ times, it was hilarious. Everyone applauded, she made a scene every time she took them back. Oh, they serve wine and beer as well.

This place might make some people worry because there is so much on the menu. Usually when a place has italian food, burgers, mexican food, and breakfast nothing is very spectacular. This place is known for good food and good portions. Notice I didn't say spectacular. Some items are great, like the pancake and breakfast burrito, but you can probably get better versions elsewhere. At the other places it will be half the size and double the price. Come here when you are hungry and don't want to pay a ton. Also good for groups where no one wants the same thing. I would normally rate this place a 5. Unfortunately there was a hair in our salsa which I wasn't too fond of.

Portions are great. But service is slow. Too loud. When we got our food, food was cold. Also, pancakes were suppose to be plain and got chocolate chips inside. Not the best thing to have for a diabetic. Asked for manager, never came. Won't be going back due to overall experience.

Since my last review I have been consistently coming back to Ted's for breakfast after working a long night. I love the Filler up special. Large hash browns, eggs, bacon, and french toast. Yum. Problem is the other morning I came here and went through the drive thru....well at least I tried to. We sat at the intercom forever. We eventually drove up to the window and were not happy at what we saw. First off, nobody had the headphones on so they never would have heard us, or anyone else, pull up. When we go here we expect to wait to get our food but not to order ! We wasted so much gas waiting around trying to order food. Second or third depending how you look at it, there was only one person working away hard (the cook) the other 3 people (two females and a male) were playing around in the kitchen with each other. Unfortunately we did not see the owner so maybe this is the mice playing while the cat is away. The food was good! We have gone in and ordered by vehicle and the food was always good. Though someone did forget to put the powdered sugar on the french toast this time. It is best to go in but for whatever reason if you need to go through the drive thru make sure you check the order and if nobody responds to you don't wait around at the intercom just drive around to the window.

Ted has a dry sense of humor, probably from years of fans gushing over the place. He calls it a 'greasy spoon' with a wink...it's a Chicago style Greek restaurant. They have Greek, Mexican, breakfast, the best burgers. Generous portions, good, simple food. Don't expect tablecloths and candlelight, but do expect a fun place with good food! (and good karma!)

Great food. Drive thru SUCKS !!!!!!! Please close down the drive thru, it's a waste of time... I turn off my car to sit and wait for 10 minutes for my 2 large fresh squeezed orange juices.

Had a breakfast burrito and it was very good, albeit a little pricey. There was a whole half of an avocado wrapped in fluffy eggs, crispy potatoes, and spicy chorizo sausage. The salsa bar was basic but really good. Coffee refills flow like gangbusters! Steve out.

I don't think I'll ever get done with reviewing breakfast places. I always wake up early and start my day with a hefty breakfast to last me through the rest of the day. There's so many items to choose from in their breakfast menu. Don't forget the specials board! The menu is posted on the wall next to cashier and can be quite inconvenient when there's a lot of people in line. I've tried the country style breakfast and liked the biscuit. The portions are big enough for two people to share. Waffle alert! They serve Belgian waffle! The waffles are topped with seasonal berries for about $2 more. And true to the restaurant's big portions, the waffles are plate size and thick. The one star deduction is for the service. When I ordered, I told them I didn't want butter and whipped cream on my waffle. My order came and surprise, surprise, it had whipped cream AND butter! So I told the server that they had the order wrong. Instead of apologizing, she asked me for my receipt! Thankfully, it shows on the receipt that I clearly asked for NO butter and whipped cream. If you're going on a Sunday, then make sure you go before church gets out because they get really busy. The tables fill up even on the outside patio. And if you do sit on the outside patio, be aware that the birds will try to steal your food. It's quite a scene to watch.

Stumbled upon this place on a Friday evening while on the drive to find a Mexican restaurant my friend and his family used to always go to. At first, it looked okay from the outside and the catchphrase was "best kept secret" or something like that. Decided, why not be spontaneous and check it out (I was about to go read reviews before entering, haha). Got inside and was a little lost. The restaurant is a fast food/dinner type thing. You order and pay, take your number back to your table and wait for a waiter/waitress to bring your food. I WAS SO CONFUSED. My friend got the wet burrito and I got an avocado cheeseburger. Both items were yummmmy. The burger tasted like it was grilled at a family bbq (which I LOVEEEE) and the wet burrito was nomnomnomz. It came with a side of beans and rice and red sauce. Everything tasted great except the Spanish rice...it was a little off. Then again, I'm not Mexican or have any Mexican/Spanish descent in me so I wouldn't know much. All I know is that it tasted off. Other than that, the restaurant seemed a little tacky. A reaaaaally low budget Dennys is what I would call it. REALLY. LOW. BUDGET. DENNYS. Ugh. Prices range but for dinner it'd be about $10 and up. In the end, I enjoyed the food. I didn't enjoy how the restaurant/diner/fast food joint was running. So much for being spontaneous. It obviously is not a "best kept secret".

Well ... for once I am not reviewing hamburgers or fried chicken. Proof that I have range. Not a lot mind you, but a little. We set out to visit Ted's based on a OC Register review that my father read. My father had us looking for "Tom's Place", then "Mike's Place", and we finally settled on "Some Place" until finding "Ted's Place". We only had to drive around aimlessly for 10 minutes. Alas, Yelp has no place for me to review my father's memory. Pity ... Ted's Place is, almost certainly, owned by Ted. To my knowledge this is not a chain, however it doesn't show. The place was put together very well and was very clean. Personally, I am afraid of places where I am afraid to sit down ... I have always liked the idea of a Bravo Burger, but I've always hated the execution. There is something novel about being able to order ANYTHING. Polish breakfast? No problem. Mexican lunch? No problem. Afternoon burger? Get it here. Fish and chip dinner? We got it. Polish, Mexican midnight burger? Have two. Like Bravo Burger the only problem has been truly awful food. Its overcooked, over-greasy, and over here ... on my table. I ordered my Huevos Rancheros for lunch and eagerly waited. I could eagerly wait because I wasn't taken to the cleaners on the price. When I AM taken to the cleaners I wait "somberly" (you should be taking notes). I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Eggs were overmedium. The tortillas had been slightly cooked to give a crunch, but not so overcooked that they could moonlight as a frisbee. The beans were the clincher. I have been finding REALLY good beans at places lately. Apparently, bean knowledge is expanding exponentially. The beans were refried but not mashed fully into pulp. You got that nice creamy side of the refried beans, while also being greeted with some intact beans which provided some nice textural variety. Finally, the sauce. It was spicy. Wonderfully, wonderfully spicy. I got a little heat, a little tomato, a little egg, a little bean. I must say that all the pieces blended nicely. My dad claims his burger was good, but he has absolutely no taste. Seriously, he can't taste a thing, so we can't trust him. Well ... we can't trust him with food. We can trust him with the point loading capacity of a 4x6 header, but that doesn't do help much when reviewing a Mexican/Polish/American/English/Chinese place. Recap: Ted keeps a clean place. You want it? They got it. Mexican? Yes. American? Yes. Peruvian? Kinda. African? Not Really. Sushi? Go next door. They are clearly competent cooks. Bob Barker says, "Come on down!! The Price is Right."

The best food around! Im not kidding; it's a little place on Aliso Creek next to the Whole Foods, but everything I've tried there is good. There menu is probably 100 items and all are available anytime. Large portion sizes, lots of booths and even a drive through (I don't know how they do it)!! Contrary to the above information they do have a wide selection of beverages that does include beer. This is the place that all the locals know about and all the out-of-towners don't. Ted's is Laguna Niguel's best kept secret. EVERYTHING is good!

I can honestly say that I grew up eating at Ted's and I've seen the restaurant change over the years. It's a unique place in our town, but you'll notice a strangely familiar style when you visit. That's because it's exactly like all the other diners with friendly-sounding names slapped on them. Food isn't gourmet or unique, but we keep returning for some unexplainable reason. Maybe it's just a bad habit. My family used to go twice a week (no lie). We can't get enough of the breakfasts, and they serve 'em all day. Pancakes have a great flavor and are actually fluffy! Besides pancakes, I can't think of anything outstanding about the food. The quality is acceptable. Prices are steadily climbing, so get in now before you have to dig deeper into your pockets to pay for a #6 combo (eggs, bacon/sausage, hash browns, toast). That being said, they do serve up large-size portions, and I always have more fries or hash browns than I would ever want to eat. Some of the Mexican dishes are tasty, too. Mornings are the most crowded, especially on weekends. I don't recommend the burgers, and you should probably avoid them unless you have an unusual proclivity for mediocrity.

Never get tired of Teds! Whenever I cant decide on what I want to eat, its off to Teds. They have everything on the menu and great service. This place is usually pretty packed, but well worth it. Weekends in the morning are crazy busy, but awesome breakfast plates! You wont be disappointed!

Ted's has an incredibly extensive menu so you're guaranteed to find at least one thing that looks good. On my visit I went with the chili cheese omelet and the chili was the most flavorful I've ever had in an omelet and the eggs themselves were some of the fluffiest I've ever eaten. The hash browns were lacking a bit in flavor but that's nothing a little salt & ketchup can't take care of. The staff is also very friendly and quick to offer suggestions. All in all, if you're looking for a nice local joint to eat at, Ted's is your place.

It feels like I grew up eating Ted's bacon breakfast burritos-- even though I didn't get hooked until high school. Basically a decade later and this is ALWAYS a stop when I come home to visit. Ted's just has an amazing vibe and the food is amazing. Sure, it's maybe a little pricey, but it is entirely worth it-- especially since one breakfast burrito will basically keep you full the entire day.

Was curious about this place, offers burgers, Mexican, and breakfast, similar formula to Bravo Burger and Yellow Basket except not quite as tasty. You order, get a number, and wait at your table. Good food, big menu, a step up from fast food with the prices to match. I usually go for breakfast.

We stopped into Ted's on Memorial Day Monday to grab breakfast, this was our second visit since moving into the area. First, the place was packed. Inside, outside.... to go orders, eat in orders.... PACKED. We had to weave our way around people waiting on carry out orders and filling drink cups to get to the order counter. I looked up to see a gentleman there (owner perhaps?) behind the counter. "You guys are crazy BUSY!" I told him. He smiled and said, "yes, we are blessed with customers, I am very lucky." I thought, well of course he is calm and happy - he's raking in the dough! I ordered the chorizo/egg breakfast burrito, and my husband got his breakfast stand-by Denver omelette. We took our number, and found an open table outside that had been freshly cleaned. Despite the crowd, the food arrived promptly, and was delivered by a smiling waitress. The chorizo burrito was quite delicious - and NOT greasy as chorizo can often be. The flavor was excellent, the burrito was huge. The husband's omelette was dubbed delicious. As we finished our drinks, a busser wheeled his cart out to the patio to clear tables. He moved quickly amongst all the tables clearing dirty plates and cups, wiping up messes. He was wheeling his cart back into the restaurant and paused to smile and make googly faces at a baby in a high chair at the table next to ours. On a gorgeous summer holiday when just about everyone had a day off to spend with family, it was refreshing to see not just the owner, but the waitress and busser smiling, and providing excellent customer service. I can only hope that it means that the employees are well compensated and treated well. We'll definitely be going back.

Teds has always had great food for reasonable prices. The menu prices may look expensive but the amount of food that you get will easily allow for take home of 1/2 for another meal later. My only complaint about Ted's is I don't think they have ever put a ripe tomato on any sandwich, burger or salad I have ever ordered they are red, hard and impossible to eat.

We have been seeing their little ad every week in the OC Register for years, but for some reason had never ventured in that direction for breakfast as we live in San Clemente. This morning,we were out and about, in that area, hadn't had breakfast yet and at my wife's suggestion, we popped in. My first impression was how very clean the restaurant was. Employees were very friendly and courteous. You order at the counter, they give you a number tent for your table and bring your order to you when ready. Food is terrific, hot, delicious, huge portions. The fresh squeezed OJ is fabulous. Server keeps your coffee cup full, all around a very enjoyable experience. My only suggestion is I wanted the hash browns to have more seasoning, but they have a condiment bar with several kinds of salsa and other condiments, so I was able to remedy that situation. We'll definitely have to return and try them for lunch or even dinner. Nice experience.

I have been here quite a few times. Menu items are hit or miss. Chili cheese fries are amazing, but of course too fattening to eat everyday. The cob salad is good, but they packed with an unnecessary pound of turkey and ham. Got the french dip once, it was OK at best. Ordered it with swiss cheese, and they put American cheese on it. I complained that the cheese was wrong, and they argued with me. Breakfast burritos are on the high end of breakfast burritos I've had. Free chips are a plus. Drive through takes forever. All-in-all, hit or miss.

Great short order place. My burger was good - fresh and all the components had a distinct fresh flavor. I substituted a salad for fries and it was equally tasty and fresh. My wife ordered breakfast - french toast, eggs and bacon. The french toast portion was huge although not very egg-y - more like grilled egg bread heavy on the bread. The eggs were fresh and clean and the bacon was thick cut and good. We felt like it was a good value. Staff was friendly too.

Went here for breakfast. Really, not that good, but not totally terrible either. It just ends up being a LOT of food, but leaves you really unsatisfied. Not sure if it's because they don't season anything, or if the quality really is just that poor. I ordered a breakfast burrito with no meat, but added beans. It wasn't so bad, but it just really wasn't that great either. I wish they would have added more salsa to it. It was very big and I ended up trying to put Ketchup and Tobasco on it towards the end because it just needed something more. My wife, however, ordered hashbrowns and eggs. Pretty hard to screw up, but it just was so bland and tasteless, it was almost pointless to eat. We both had a cup of coffee, which we didn't finish because of the general taste of badness that it left in our mouth. If you are hungover and need a place to get a lot of food for cheap to take the burning sensation out of your stomach, then this is your place. If you want a step from Mollie's Country Kitchen Cafe a block away, this is also it. However, if you wish to satisfy your tastebuds and actually have an enjoyable breakfast, I would look elsewhere.

If you want awesome food and plenty of left overs then you have to visit Ted's place in Laguna Niguel...I've been coming to Ted's for over 20 years now! The food is great and the service is awesome! If you haven't met Ted, you need to stop by and say hello...he's an awesome man!

I still love this place. It's nice to see the owner behind the counter taking orders, plating the food or cutting up whatever needs slicing. In addition they have a great chicken taco combo plate with drink for $6.99, I think. Two meaty soft tacos, with large slices of avocado, rice and beans. Good stuff.

Still tops with us! For the record, my 15 year old son is a pancake connoisseur, pancakes are his favorite meal and he has tried pancakes at all of the breakfast spots in OC as well as in 10 cities so far in the southwest, Midwest, midatlantic, southeast, and south. Our expert ranks Ted's pancakes #1 in the country!!!

Just tried the fish tacos for taco Tuesday and they are a great bargain! Amazing breakfast foods. Have not tried anything from the dinner menu. Order the Denver Omlet or the Turkey Club Sandwich. So good, we have been going to Ted's every Sunday for 10 years. Very busy on the weekend mornings so make sure you get in line quickly! Other than the long line to order, service is very quick usually 10-15 minutes depending on how busy it is. They also have a drive-thru, but I haven't tried it before. Ambiance is family resturant style, great experiences every time I eat at Ted's. The only reason it has 4 stars instead of 5, is that the eating area/ booths closest to the bathrooms smells like bathroom cleaner. So eat on the other side and you'll be good.

I moved to south OC from LA and I was in search for a good breakfast burrito. I turned to yelp and came across this place and decided to give it a try. South OC doesn't have a lot of choices for good "dirty" food. I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito. It was a pretty hefty burrito and was filled with hashbrown, eggs, avocado, sausage, cheese, and hot sauce. I did like how the hasbrowns were cripsy and gave the burrito a good crunch. However, the cheese in the burrito wasn't melted. It sat in the bag for 5 minutes before I took the first bite, so I gave it enough time for the cheese to melt. I found that really strange. Overall the burrito was plain and not very good. I miss the food in LA!

This place is awesome. It's hard to be all things to all people, so if you order the steak here thinking it's going to be filet quality, you need to re-think your value system. If you go in with the expectations of great quality food in massive quantities that will leave you satisfied for the entire day, you'll hit a home run with Ted's. Everything I've tried as been great. Greek salad in a diner? Usually gross. Not at Ted's... it's wonderful! I'm impressed how short-order cooks can have such an impressive repertoire, but somehow they pull it off, and they pull it off deliciously. pro-tip: unlimited coffee!

I waited 23 minutes in the drive thru for a breakfast burrito. I was late for work and when i finally got to the front, the lady did not greet me and made me wait another couple minutes just sitting in my car. She opened the window and asked for the money. i told her how long i was waiting, although she was aware. I asked them for at least a discount or to talk to a supervisor, she acted like she did not understand english, although she took me order at the front. Ted's is very unprofessional and their food is over priced. I payed 8 dollars to another waste 8 dollars of gas in the drive thru and was no apologized to or respected. Negative stars!!!!!

Honestly, Ted's Place is THE BEST breakfast place I've ever been to. This little diner is family-owned and has been around for as long as I can remember. Though I've only been introduced to it in the last year, Ted's Place is still my favorite breakfast place to go to. If you ever order a dish from here you'll know how huge the portions are. Pricewise, you get a LOT of food for what you pay. I love to order their Breakfast Specials, which include scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, etc. This place will really fill you up! They have many breakfast options which include breakfast burritos, breakfast skillets, waffles and pancakes, omelets, and more. They also have a variety of beverages as well as fresh-squeezed orange juice. Ted's also serves lunch and dinner dishes which include mainly mexican-style and american-style food. Regardless whether you like these types of foods or not, you should give this place a try. Foods include: - Breakfast: pancakes, waffles, omelets, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, bacon, the works - Breakfast Skillets - Gourmet Burgers and Sandwiches - Salads - Tacos, Burritos, Enchiladas, Quesadillas, Fajitas - Side Orders such as fries, onion rings, etc. - Seafood and Meat plates - Pasta - Skewers Ted's Place has a daily special that ranges from seafood dishes to meatloaf to bbq babyback pork ribs. Things I would recommend: - Breakfast Burrito - Any kind of burger - Omelets - Breakfast Specials (I have yet to try other foods but so far everything is great!)

Plusses: Great selection of mexican and american--breakfast, lunch, and dinner. huge servings, drive thru. Minuses--Huge servings (specifically--heart attack size portions on anything involving cheese or bacon), slow service. Service/quality is about average. Its a good place to go on a weekend morning if you arent in a hurry, but nothing special.

Called out sick after waking up with a hangover from the night before. Found out I'm stuck in Laguna Niguel miles miles away from home. My usual remedies for a hangover is either Pho (Vietnamese Noodle Soup) or Dim sum (Cantonese Breakfast) however that was closer to home about 30 miles away. My friends mention about how this place gave huge portions. Didn't have to ask me twice. We were there in a heart beat. I notice there was a drive thru here for the restaurant. My friend mention about them having steak. I wonder if those people in drive thru would order a steak to go? LOL Any who order the Steak and Eggs Platter. Steak-was pretty juicy only the first 1/3. The rest of the steak was dry. I order my steak medium well also. Hash brown- Was crispy and cover half of the plate. Toast- Institutional cheap dry toast that they probably bought in bundles. Over Easy Eggs- Can't go wrong there. They weren't kidding about the portion size. I didn't finish my platter and I'm a big eater. While walking out I notice there was a long line of cars at the drive thru. I guess people do order Steaks thru the drive thru ahahah. Let's hope your not one the cars behind them.

Hot and a lot. That is the best way of describing the food at Ted's. The menu is huge, this is definitely the place to bring a pack of picky eaters. It is a short-order-grill type of place, with lots of burgers, fried shit and mexican food. If you enjoy food-comas and being unproductive after lunch, than Ted's is for you.

  • Steve C.

Nothing special. The same surly, Latino girl glares at you while you're studying the massive menu. Always seems to be doing you a favor to take your order. The food is alright. Not bad but nothing really to recommend. I will say the portion size is pretty large but sometimes you don't need to pay for 3 pounds of hash browns on your plate. Sandwiches are like $7-$8 and they don't come with fries or any sides. The prices keep creeping up and they're now bordering on a little expensive for what you get. When they total it up, it always seems like it's a little more than it should be. Could be because every time I go there all the employees seem to be eating. Probably sucking down all the profits.

Ted's is a jack of all trades. They have just about anything and everything you can imagine. The portions are very generous. Nothing there is really my favorite, but just because they have everything there, it's a good place to go sometimes.

WTF? Three days in a row having Fish and Chips?!? Yea. Something about the gloomy weather makes me crave Fish and Chips. I did come here to try their Fish and Chips, but actually contemplated ordering one of their breakfast offerings. Since it was 5pm, it was kind of weird to have breakfast at dinner (Side note: an Asian friend of mine once mentioned that she finds it odd that Americans have food that is designated for certain times of the day. Yea, I guess it is.). So, I ended up ordering the Fish and Chips. As I placed my order to the stoic cashier, she asked how many pieces I wanted with my order. The menu board said it was a three piece dish, but I ordered it with two, since I wasn't incredibly hungry. She placed my order and gave me a number to take to my table to wait for my meal. I sat there for a short time and a employee brought my food to my table. At first I was like "Good Lord! What's with all the food!" I read about the large portions, but this was rediculous! My Fish and Chips order was set on the table AND a five piece fried chicken filet something or another was set down, too! Since I was eating alone, I was like "Whoa! I just ordered the Fish and Chips!" If I was a starving Ethiopian or something, I would have let them leave both dishes. I'm not, so I had them take the chicken back. Eventhough I ordered a two piece Fish and Chips, there was three pieces on the plate. Woo hoo! It rested on a mound of fries. Came with a big cup of cole slaw and a lot of tartar sauce (thumbs up!). The Filets were decent sized with a golden oily batter. It was okay. Tastewise, it lands in between my last two places I've tried. It's good, not great, leaning more to the tasty side than the bad. Lots of fries, which I couldn't finish off. The menu here is HUGE! There's a lot of choices and everything looked better than similar places like Fantastic Cafe. I'm not in this area much, but would consider it again for other offerings when I am.

The food is okay to good, but I'd definitely come here over a Denny's or ihop any damn day. Can't say everything is awesome, but you best bring your appetite. To sum it up, this is a grub place. - Biscuits and Gravy, yum. Not blow your mind, but if you got a hankering, fluffy biscuits in a thick gravy with sausage chunks in them, over easy eggs and hash browns. Damn. - Chicken fried steak. Solid - Breakfast burritos, super dense and packed to the brim. Like eating a brick, a delicious brick. Hashbrowns, avocado, salsa, breakfast meat, it's got all the works to a dynamite huge breakfast burrito. - Chicken strips, HUGEE mound of fries and piping hot chicken strips. Always a good choice. -Pancakes, Ted's is of the fluffy, sponge-y variety. Really good but you get a crap load. In the words of Mitch Hedberg, "You can't be all like panacakes, exciting at first, but by the end you're effing sick of them" Decent to really good food, not highly refined but like a said, this place to get your grub on, and they definitely won't disappoint in that sense.

The food that actually arrived (#1 breakfast special) was adequate, but nothing to write home about. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and somewhat tough. The biscuits were good and while the gravy covering them was of a good consistency it was fairly tasteless. The low quality sausage patties were not particularly flavorful, and the hash browns decent. Overall, the quality was not made up for by the quantity, which by any metric was generous. The big problem was in the quality of service. My breakfast companion ordered the Belgian waffle special, which didn't show up when my order arrived, though the server said that it was on its way. He waited nearly 10 minutes, and still no waffle. When he asked at the counter what the deal was, he was told that the waffle machine had broken, but but was now fixed, and his waffle would be out right away. He waited another 5+ minutes and then went to the counter again, only to be informed that the waffle machine was really broken and then be asked if would he like to order something else. To their credit, they did provide a refund, but if his order was going to be delayed significantly or ultimately not possible to fulfill, the diner staff could have done a much, much better job of communicating that information.

I moved several years ago to Irvine/Tustin area but still drive almost every weekend to Laguna Niguel to eat at Ted's. I have been coming here for over 10 years and still love the place. Top choices: Breakfast burrito, Fish and Chips, Ted's Breakfast Special, Chicken Melt Sandwich combo and, lastly, Carnitas Tacos. Yes... This place makes the BEST carnitas tacos in town but they are never ordered by the patrons. The tacos are pricey at almost $2.99 a taco but give one a shot and you'll soon be adding at least one to your order everytime you visit.

It's been nearly 4 years since my first review and my palate (and health consciousness) has changed considerably. I wouldn't ever consider eating here again honestly. Portions are way too big and wasteful. Most of the items of the menu are mediocre quality. The good dishes I remember well are fried, fried and more fried.

This is one of my childhood favorites. Greasy diner a 5 minute drive from my parent's house. I'll randomly feel like a greasy meal when i'm home and i'll head over. I grew up on this and hey, i didn't die from a heart attack just yet, so i feel like it's safe to return. The logic isn't completely there but when i'm biting into their delicious fries, I don't care about logic or reasoning because they're heaven. They're uber crunchy like i like them and they're downright perfect. I always get a veggie burger if i'm in the mood for lunch here. It's packed with vegetables on top of the burger. The vegetables don't make me feel so guilty about the fact i'm eating my entire caloric intake in one meal. hey, you have to live sometimes right? Their breakfasts are out of this world as well! Their portions are enormous so come ready with a shovel.

I have been coming here since Junior High and ever since, I've been a fan. It's a great place to simply come and have pretty much any kind of food you hope for with service that is pretty awesome. The owner is always friendly and he takes the time to talk to you and make you feel welcome. Here are my recommendations: 1. Fish and Chips - IT HITS THE SPOT. 3 pieces of huge, and freshly fried fish on a pile of crisp fries, you can't beat that and at less than $9 it's a steal. 2. The roasted chicken dinner - This plate is huge. I've always had left overs after eating it. It's half of a roasted chicken, with a side salad, fries, onion rings, and tortillas. 3. Any of the breakfast platters. huge, delivers, and you'll walk out full. The other great thing is that they have all you can drink orange bang and horchata. great place with great food at great prices. Why not right?

Burger, side salad, and drink is 7.99 i think. We always laugh at the "side salad". It is a meal itself, and if you are not careful, you will be full by time you touch your burger. I have had mexican, breakfast, and some other greasy selections, all outstanding and oversized. recommendation : Ted's Skillet Great place for a business meeting if you want to really impress your client They have a drive through for people who want remain anonymous

I could always smell Ted's Place cooking breakfast during my morning swim at the Agassi Super Sport across the street. So ironic to want some of their big, fatty, down home food while swimming laps. But sometimes you just gotta indulge. The portions are very large and the prices are very low. The food itself is the standard diner type food along with almost anything else you're craving. Seriously, they have a ton of items to order from. Nothing really spectacular but still decent for what it is. You order from the counter and they bring your food to you. That's the gist of service. Again, good service for what it is. Overall, a great place to gorge yourself for a small amount of money and perfect for a morning hangover session. They also have a drive through window which is surprisingly quick, considering the amount of items they have to prepare.

Breakfast is excellent here- the pancakes were light and fluffy with great flavor. Eggs and bacon were good- but not spectacular. The real winner of the (way too big and overly expansive) menu is the breakfast burrito. Nice ratio of eggs, cheese, crispy-off-the-griddle hashbrowns, ripe and creamy avocado, and salsa and bacon/sausage/chorizo if you wish. Huge size as well- I couldn't even finish it. I previously had a cheeseburger here and wasn't all that impressed. It was good, but nothing special or unique. After my good breakfast here this morning, I am anxious to try some of the other things on the lunch and dinner menu as well. Nice bonus- they serve beer and wine. $12 bucks a bottle for Chardonnay or Cab. You gotta love a diner that serves booze. Greasy spoon- yep. Little to no customer service- yep. Some of the best breakfast food in otherwise lacking south OC? yep.

This local hangout is a tradition among my friends. The food is good, greasy, and not something I'd eat more than once a month, but it fills a spot in my tummy that only hash browns, bacon, and eggs can fill.

This is the diner if 21st century. If you like home style comfort food then Ted's is the place! Huge portions of deliciousness : ) Ted himself is often there talking with his patrons and he is really down to earth. Been going there for almost 18 years now. It's super busy on the weekends so get in early or around lunch time if you want breakfast : ) The employees are awesome and super friendly :)

I went with some friends on a Sunday after 1 PM. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and fried zucchini. Shouldn't take too long to get my food right? I was wrong! It took a whopping 20 minutes for me to get my food. My friends were more than half way done with their food by the time I got mine. Talk about slow. They were NOT busy either. The bread on the sandwich was really dry and the pastrami slices were corned beef slices. This place is pretty expensive too. I don't think there is anything truly special about this place to warrant the prices and the wait. I would definitely not come back here again.

Awesome! The cure for your hangover, munchies, or hungry stomach is most definitely Ted's Place. The menu has everything possible on it, though I don't think I would order their liver or mahi-mahi...i love breakfast food and i now love Ted's. I figured the portion's would be large, and they are, but I was definitely not expecting the log of hashbrowns that came with my breakfast combo. Perfectly browned and crispy on the top, and just the right amount to settle my stomach. I think on a normal day, I would not have been able to finish it all, but I appreciate they don't skimp (like Denny's or IHOP...I feel bad even mentioning those 2 places in this review because Ted's is so much better). Their toast was really thick, which I prefer, so that was an added bonus. I didn't eat my eggs, but they looked good. The pancakes were delicious. It was all great. Hangovers don't seem so bad now that I've found Ted's.

Ted's is a friendly place with comfort food. Is it die for, No! But the food is good and gianormous serving sizes. The secret is too share your food. The place has been there for years and has maintained some of the same staff all this time. Ted is a very nice guy and greets the customers personally when he can.

  • Michael P.

Huge portions! You have been warned! Anything you order, Ted's does it big. It was a favorite pastime of mine to come here with a large group of friends for brunch to chat while tackling the huge mounds of food in front of us. Breakfast burritos require both hands for proper handling and can easily feed 2 people. Onion rings come in a huge mound on a large dinner plate (feeds 3 or 4 ppl). Fish n chips...they offer 2 pc, 3 pc and more, but for one healthy person, a 2 pc is more than enough. Quality-wise, definitely enjoyable but you can find better elsewhere. My default meal here when I'm indecisive is the breakfast burrito (~$6). It's a solid burrito, but it's pretty heavy with the potato/hashbrown. Some complain about it, but I still enjoy it (perhaps it's because they use avocados!! =)) Note to self: If taking the burrito to-go to the beach, must eat burrito in one sitting. I ate half at the beach but a squirrel found the other half and ate it =(

Had the Breakfast Burrito, the cheese they use doesn't taste very good but they were a great size. Id go back for something different then the breakfast burrito next time, not my favorite.

I love coming here for breakfast. This place serves food for all times of the day. They have several breakfast options (omelette's, breakfast specials, to oatmeal). For those who don't want breakfast they have the traditional lunch options (hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches). They even have a full dinner menu and have a daily dinner special. Per person you should be able to get stuffed with leftovers for around $10 per person. I will always come here for weekend breakfast because its cheaper and better than IHOP or Denny's. The workers are very patient and helpful. I recommend this place for anyone in the area who wants breakfast and not have to wait at the other local breakfast eateries.

Ted's Place? It should be called Jose's Place! hahaha there were nothing but hispanic workers here and I didn't feel like anyone was very happy... I assume I came in close to closing time but hey service should be service until the doors are closed! So I cam across this place cuz I was lost looking for a damn postage stamp! hahaha random right, but it just so happened that i was hungry while I was running errands and I wanted to get them all done but the hunger won! Anyways so I was sitting outside of this place trying to figure our where to eat and then I looked up and the sign said "Diner" hahahaha! So before I walked in, I went on my Yelp app and read some reviews... majority of the people said to get the breakfast burrito and so I did! As far as the breakfast burrito goes... i mean it was alright.... I definitely have had better! I had to add some grilled jalapenos to it just to add more flavor. You have the choice of getting it with ham, sausage, or bacon. I went with the ham.... maybe i should have stuck with bacon but hey! Now as far as the restaurant goes, it was surprisingly clean and modern on the inside which is what made me feel good. Most small diners like this aren't as clean! as most diners have, they as well had server yourself chips and salsa, and at the salsay bar they had grilled onions and jalapenios which i haven't seen to often. All in all it was a "Meh. I've experienced better"

Been going here since the days I would walk in for a breakfast burrito still wearing the same clothes and makeup from the night before... don't ask, I was young. Still, whether sleep deprived or fresh out of the water from a dawn patrol surf, this place makes THE BEST breakfast burrito in the world! They pretty much make a full homemade breakfast, and then roll it up in a tortilla. I can only eat half of one, they are that big. So head over to Ted's with a friend and split a burrito one of these days, you wont be disappointed!

  • Sam S.

I've been going to Ted's since I was a freshman in high school, and don't think I've ever left disappointed. The portions are HUGE, so bring your appetite. The best things on the menu (in my opinion) are the breakfast burritos, pancakes, and burgers (beef). The owner, Ted, is very hospitable, and actually has sat with us a couple of times (with our permission) to get to know us better. About 4 members of the staff know me by name, and they make you feel at home.

At first glance, I wanted to stay away as it had a drive-up. Glad I stayed, good little dinner. Awesome plates for the price. Huge portions. Loved the Salsa/Pepper bar.

  • Jake S.

Hands down, the most incredible breakfast burritos on the planet. I've only had their breakfast burritos here, so I am rating this place solely on that. They're huge. Loaded up with guac, tons of cheese, potatoes, bacon, salsa, steak, eggs, jalapenos, more bacon, hot sauce, sour cream, onions, ham, and so much more. You won't be able to finish one, that's for sure. But hands down, the best breakfast burritos in existence.

  • Shaun S.

Maybe if I give this place a bad review it will keep a lot of people from going and making it too crowded :) This is one of the last "mom and pop" style, short order coffee shops left in south county. The breakfasts here are freaking amazing. Huge portions of everything. They have a lunch and dinner special going on everyday so you can go the cheap route too if you'd like. We usually come here on a Saturday or Sunday morning (especially after a night out) or for the occasional dinner. Every single thing that I've had off their menu from a breakfast burrito to a turkey burger to a 16oz steak is delicious. Even the grilled cheese sandwiches are worth driving here for. There are 3 tiny TV's up in the corners of the dining area so don't really plan on coming here to watch any games or anything like that. I highly recommend that you go inside and eat as the drive thru does take quite a long time on some days. It's still worth the wait if you would rather eat at home.

This is a larger than I expected restaurant with both a drive through and a large sit down dining area. It is also a relatively modern restaurant that looks as it has been in its current location for perhaps a little more than 10 years. French Fry review: This restaurant uses what appear to be frozen, large fries. They are terrible, mushy and nearly tasteless with no skin or seasoning. While some reviewers appear to believe the fires were good, I suspect they are referring only to chile fries, the plain fries are not worth ordering.

I am a Breakfast Burrito seeker. We all have our one meal that drives us nuts. So i checked out Yelp and saw that several people had given the Breakfast Burrito at Ted's Place good reviews. I got the Bacon Burrito and was expecting a larger burrito than I actually got. Everyone on Yelp was saying how big the portions are and specifically how big the burrito is (enough to feed 2 people). It definitely was not big enough to feed 2 people, I finished it with ease and I'm 150 pounds. I would put it in the Medium-Large category. A Large Burrito is one from Surfin' Souvlaki in Mission Viejo (my benchmark burrito for this area). And I have to leave open a HUGE category for a Burrito that I know must exist somewhere. Now the Burrito itself was delicious. Cheddar cheese, potatoes, big hunks of bacon, eggs, and the perfect amount of avocado. Everything is extremely well balanced, I don't taste one ingredient any more than the others (except for delicious big bacon bites). Just wished it was a little bigger because its not worth the $6 in my opinion. If you like how A's Breakfast Burritos used to be come grab a bacon burrito from Ted's and feel the nostalgia.

  • K D.

I think for South OC standards, I can see why this place is good. Now if you live north of Irvine, you'll find a lot of burger joints like this that are the bomb! I had the philly cheese steak combo and my green bell peppers weren't even cooked. It was basically raw. That didn't taste well for me, I like my philly cheese steaks a little on the tender side (bread, meat, cheese, veggies, everything!). Portions are huge and avg meal here is anywhere between $7-$11. It ain't the cheapest prices but for South OC, I guess it's decent. A lot of OC Sheriff's come here to eat. Yay for the Orange Bang/Horchata!

Ted's Place is home of the world's largest hash browns. If you love potato, then order a breakfast. You get three eggs the way you like, bacon, or sausage, whole wheat toast or what you prefer, and more than half of the plate is "hash browns." I love hash browns so I was happy. They don't salt it for you so you need to use ketsup or tobasco to flavor it up. The food is unhealthy, but delicious. I know it is unhealthy because a gray-haired gentleman in an apron sat down to eat breakfast with some customer friends and ate a large metal bowl filled with salad. I think this was "Ted." Looks like he needs to keep his bad cholesterol, and fat and sodium and sugar levels down. LOL

  • JJ S.

Good old Ted's. We've only been for breakfast up until now. We had a burger jones, but didn't want to spoil dinner, so we split the Ted special which comes with fries. What's NOT on this burger? It was huge and perfect for splitting (assuming you don't want to pig.) Of course, we always gotta get a good helping of the spicy carrots and garlic from the salsa bar, too... 3-1/2 stars!

  • Susie K.

It's been a year or so since we have gone here, but I do remember my daughter saying we had to go. We both agree the burgers and fries are good and huge portions. She said breakfast is great there as well. We will go back when in that area.

I usually love this place but not today. $43 and 30 minutes after we ordered we received our food.... Freezing cold!!!!! Rude employees and terrible customer service! The girl got an attitude when I asked how long it would take for a warm meal... Got my money back for one meal, less the tax I paid!!! Bye bye Ted's. Never again!!!!!

If you are hungry and you can't decide what you want, you must go to Ted's Place. If you are the type that can't decide, you will need extra time checking out Ted's menu board. Everything served here is HUGE - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack - doesn't matter, you will probably not finish. Ok, once you decide on an order, please do not try to get two things you will not get to it. the best plan of attack is to bring friends and you can either split or at least get to taste a variety of things. I particularly like the breakfast here. They give you a hunk load of pancakes, and their potatoes are the bomb. Lil sis once ordered one of their skillet breakfast and barely got halfway to it. Remember if you are hungry check this place out and you are guarnteed to be full by the time you get out and probably will have a to go container with you when you leave.

I have ate breakfast at Ted's for years. Their breakfast are second to none. They are incredible. However, recently since suffering a broken leg, not wanting to shop, not wanting to cook I branched out a bit. So I went to Ted's, through their drive-thru and ordered a Greek Salad. I am diabetic so this seemed like a great alternative. I have ate at Bistango's, Opah's and many other fancy places, but their Greek Salad is just incredible. Never been disappointed with the friendly service or great food. The drive-thru is not McDonald's (thank god) so it requires a small wait, but you won't be disappointed. Also, what you get in that salad is incredible, especially for the reasonable price, I mix it with some Romaine at home and it is simply amazing. I hope I send some business their way. Try it!

  • Jack B.

I like this place, there are tons of food options there Breakfasts are fine, I don't usually eat out for breakfast (im a cereal guy) so I usually come here for lunch. Standard Lunch Fare..Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, plus Gyros and dinner platters It can get expensive though so when you order, try to stick with a special that comes with fries. Or Else, you are stuck ordering a sandwich and a HUGE plate of fries on the side.

  • Micaela M.

This is a great locals place. Breakfast is okay, but lunch and dinner are better. They give you big portions. I found that the sandwiches were the best so far. I love the chicken sandwich that they usually have on special.

If you want some greasy American food go to Ted's. When you got the munchies this is the place to go. I gotta agree with some other reviews. Ted's is hyped up too much. It's more of a place for high school students with no taste in what real food should taste like. Oh yeah, my stomach is not cast iron anymore. Only a high school student could take this places greasy beating.

Been coming here for about 12 years now. Breakfasts are A LOT of food and pretty good. Skip the rest. Yes, the cashiers are evil and impatient. BTW...just paid $10.00 for a sandwich and a drink...where were the fries???

I'm a local so I have been here a couple of times. I have a friend who loves the breakfast burritos here. The prices are decent here and the food isn't bad. I'm not in love with the breakfast burritos here and think people kinda overrate the place. Not too bad, not bad prices, I would prefer Ted's to a typical fast food joint but I never really crave for the food here. It's a bit overrated in my opinion but to each his own. Give it a shot.

Ordered an avocado chorizo omelette to go. Waited 30 minutes for it. Got it home and the avocado was black and rotten. I called them and they said to bring it back and I could exchange it for something else. Ordered a breakfast burrito and went back. They said it would be ready in 7 minutes. I got to the counter 10 minutes later and the lady asked what I wanted to order instead because they hadn't started my burrito. Got a refund and will not be going back. I used to go here all the time and this is not the first time I have been served rotten avocado. But the lack of service today was the last straw.

Sometimes a "hit" but sadly more often a "miss". I really wanted this place to become my favorite local breakfast hangout but the inconsisent food and consistent poor service keeps me away more often than not.

I used to frequent Teds almost every week. Their cheeseburger special, chicken strip or fish and chips, and gyros were of very huge portions and delicious. On my last visit back, all of the old workers were gone. The food tasted rather bland. Maybe it was the old grill men that really added taste to the dishes for years. I think it will be awhile before I try Teds again.

  • J. C.

It's okay, no different than Golden Basket in Santa Ana. Breakfasts are okay but GB is better. I would say for South OC the Hat is better. But what I like about it is it's a mom & pop type place. Aliso Viejo I think has a real hate for mom & pop places because AV only has chain fast food joints which I hate so it's nice to go to a place that has a weekly menu full of "home cooked" style food like meatloaf or fish & chips or whatever like that.

  • PJ P.

If you are really hungry this is a great place to go to fill your empty belly...servings are huge on just about everything on the menu. The menu is very diversified and can please many different tastes in one l;ocation. If you want more "flavor" on something the cooks will add jalapenos, salt, pepper, onions or whatever you request, so I don't know what those other folks are complaining about . Just ask and you will receive. A few really good items have disappeared off of the menu in recent years such as the fill-me-up French toast breakfast with bacon that used to be available on weekdays for $4.99 . Sure miss that breakfast! I have not eaten at Ted's on Sunday evenings since the Sunday pot roast dinner disappeared off of the menu...Mmmm.. pot roast, mashed potatoes, a toasted roll and a terrific salad all for less than $10. Ted, what were you thinking when you took the pot roast off of the menu? About service, Ted is always friendly and lets customers know that he appreciates their business. Some of the females at the register can be a bit cranky at times, but who cares, all you do is give them your order and your money. I think Ted could improve his business by bringing refills on drinks to the table while customers are eating. Who wants to leave their food to go get a refill on coffee, soda, or water while they are eating anyway? When it is crowded I am afraid to leave the table to get more coffee fearing the busboy will clear away my dishes in my absence. ( Yes, it HAS happened before when I ate there alone !) In conclusion, food is good, quantity is great, selection is varied. If you have not tired Ted's, you are missing out!

I'm been coming here for 20 yrs and was always happy w food and service. Last sun am took 30 min to get breakfast and it wasn't packed when we came in. Tonight sitting here 1 hr and 30 min and still don't have my hamburger place has been half full since I got here I noticed that the tables around me that seated after I did got food before me and 2 attempts to talk to the server were to no avail. I'm not sure If Ted knows how screwed up his place is?? Something very different here and I'm bummed for one of my favorite spots

I started eating here as a toddler, before Ted bought the place, when it was the Fabulous Charbroiler. The name has changed in the last 20 years, and the menu has expanded, but everything is great. This is not a gourmet restaurant. If that's what you're expecting, why are you at Ted's? This started as a burger/gyro place, the kind Greek immigrants were nice enough to open all over the country 30 years ago. I saw Ted slowly add breakfasts, different kinds of sausages, pastas, and mexican food, and it's all good. Food aside, Ted is a super nice guy. He watched my sister and I grow up and would talk to my parents about our education when we were young. He cares about his customers and truly wants everyone to be happy. I've never met a nicer business owner. He also treats his employees really well, which is why some have been there my entire life. Criticize the food if you want. I know it's not haute-cuisine. But this is my comfort food. I go to Ted's whenever I'm back in So Cal.

10x better than denny's, at least. better quality and value. i got a $3 weekday special of biscuits+gravy with scrambled eggs. so cheap and filling! my coworker has tried several items there and they are always generous with their portions and the taste is great. my friend tried it also and enjoyed it. they also have complimentary tortilla chips and salsa! kinda hidden (it's on the counter near the water pitcher/sodas) so wanted to let you know. also, i changed my mind a minute after i placed my order and they still changed it for me so props to them!!

First time was OK, good portions. second time - HORRIBLE. They got 2 stars just because the staff is nice. Chili cheese hot dog tasted like cardboard. $7 the chicken strips were OK, nothing great. $10 My friend threw away her MEATLOAF.

Have been here twice. You do get more than what you pay for... plan on going home stuffed with enough for a full second meal. Everything is "serve yourself" once they bring your food.. they don't check in on you.

I love Ted's Place....I've been going to Ted's for over 20 years. I think they have the best food ever....great prices and great service...you couldn't eat at a better place! Oh and Ted and his wife are the coolest people ever!

My boyfriend and I had a late breakfast here...we ordered and shared the chicken breakfast skillet and the breakfast burrito (w/ bacon). Amazing. Heavy, but amazing. Great combos of typical diner flavors and ingredients. The chicken breakfast skillet was actually better than the burrito...chicken, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, bell peppers, avocado, cheddar...hit the spot perfectly. Not the place to go if you're watching your calorie intake, but definitely awesome for an indulgent, decadent meal!

People who know whats up eat here. Back in the day this used to be the killer breakfast joint in town. I dunno if that is still the case. I eat later in the morning and go there for their dinners now. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star are the prices. Gone waayyy up over the past 10 years or so.

    (4)
  • Justin A.

Been here several times since the last review. The prices keep climbing (like most places these days), but unfortunately the misses are happening a lot more frequently than the hits for me these days. For that reason I have to drop them to 3 stars. Sorry Ted!

I have only had the breakfast burrito. I used to eat here every Sunday morning and get a burrito. Keep in mind it's an American "burrito" and not very Mexican, but it's the BOMB! It's huge and delicious. Most people eat half and save the rest for later. I wish I lived closer to this place.

This place was amazing! It's not the typical diner, it's SOO good! The serving sizing are HUGE and would recommend sharing a place. All the food is good, fresh and seems like they cook everything fresh. I will be returning here!

  • T S.

The food is good and you giant plates of food! You could probably share a plate and still be full. Ted will come out occasionally and greet you. He has had the same employees for years, that says something as well. He also has a drive thru.

Huge chicken breast sandwich. Had the combo and it came with a drink and salad. The salad was one of the biggest side salads I have ever seen - it could have been a meal on its own. Great place to bring kids. Friendly staff and and open kitchen. I also saw the fish and chips - the fish was enormous. Next time. You definitely get you moneys worth at Teds.

Want to rate it 3.5 stars. Yelp should fix this but anyhow. I like the zucchini fries and the gyros. They have a wide variety and have a truck stop esque feeling to the place.

Good place where you can dress down casual and be yourself. None of that OC ethos of "keeping up with Jones" dress up and drive fancy car. Just normal looking people around this cafe. Went for breakfast, was surprised that combos cost around $6 to $9 each, but portions were bigger than average. Most obvious was the 1/2 lb (or more?!) of hash browns, that sat next to the eggs on the breakfast combo. Love the hot peppers bar, carried goooood heat. 4 kinds of coffee available: regular, decaf, french vanilla, and hazelnut. Great variety on a huge menu, serves all kinds of Mexican foods and American foods for lunch and dinner too. Skillets. 5 different styles of Hot dogs. Even saw Eggs Benedict on the hand written board.

I really like this place. The food here is very good and the portions are huge. The only thing I don't like about this place is ordering over the counter. The menu is big and it takes time to look over the menu items. You feel pressured to order fast either because of the look of the guy behind the counter at you, or because of the people lining up behind you. I wish it was a set down restaurant where you can take your time going over the menu before placing your order. They also can place another copy of the menu as you walking in before stepping to the counter to make an order. I still think this is very good family owned restaurant.

Ted's is a oldschool diner type of place which has just about everything on the menu. There's even a guy much like Mel Sharples cooking the food. (Could it be Ted himself?) You'll see long lines on weekend mornings. Get there early if you want to eat inside. The drive through is usually packed with cars too. Specials are posted on this acrylic board next to the register and you seat yourself. Since there's one of everything on the menu, it will probably take you time to deliberate between getting, say, the pancakes or a burger! And don't get me started on the breakfast burritos - they are ridiculous!!! Huge, stuffed with everything, even avocado!!!

  • Pauline P.

is you've got a massive hangover Sunday morning and had thrown up everything in your body the night before you should go here. or if you have a huge appetite. or whatever because this place serves food in large portions and DGAF about overloading your breakfast burrito with mounds of hashbrowns or avocados. holy shit they are so good im getting hungry just writing this. the menu is big. its got american, mexican, greek, belgum (waffles). so many choices. no matter what you order, there will be plenty of it. the coffee is really good too. plus, they let me sit in there for over 2 hours once! now thats great costomer service. theyve got a salsa bar too! oh man.. im hungry, it doesnt get the fifth star because the food gets a little greasy, but fuck that its still good.

I've been here twice for breakfast. Both times the food was fast and ok quality. The food portions here are huge for breakfast. I do not like the syrup they give you for pancakes. It tastes like chemicals. Parking is easy. And the prices are fair.

I order 2 piece Fish and Chips and they gave me 3 large and 1 small piece and fries. Big portions. Decent Prices. The food was surprisingly good.

This is an honest review, I went to Teds place for the first time in a few years and their service/food has gotten considerably bad. The drive thru cashier had a bad attitude when my girl friend and I were taking our order. A couple times she had to stop herself from shouting because I said can I get a regular breakfast burrito and a regular size drink. She obviously didn't realize that meant a medium size. That wasn't a big deal but what really pissed us off was the drink was dripping wet and she literally pushed it into the car without giving me a chance to wipe it off. Then when I get home it looked like there was boogers inside the lid. I'm not a 100% sure what it was but I ordered a Pepsi and there was brown things stuck to the cup. I was disgusted and angry that I spent $19 on two bad tasting burritos and 2 drinks. I would have been more satisfied with a $1 burrito from del taco. Needless to say I hope this place goes out of business.

The Costco of restaurants, Ted's serves huge portions of a wide variety of dishes for cheap prices. The only downside is that everything is just fairly average. There is nothing on the menu that is my "go-to" item unlike many other food spots that are known for at least one amazing dish.

    (3)
  • Sonia G.

The food here smells and looks great. But when you get close you'll see that all their ingredients are greasy, cheap and bad for you. Except the salads. It's not really that tasty anyways.

    (2)
  • Jim S.

I'd give this place an extra half star if the prices were a bit less. I spent $10 for breakfast for one, which seems like a lot. Yes, the portions are big, but who doggie-bags breakfast? Kudos to the chorizo/eggs and coffee. Help yourself coffee is a brilliant idea. Nothing fancy about Ted's - it's got a cult-like following so the weekends can be really busy, but they do have a drive through if you don't want to stand in the order line.

    (3)
  • T. S.

Ted's sure feed you a lot. Their wet burritos are too much to finish, but yummy nontheless.

The fried zuchini will keep you coming back for more. It's excellent!!!

  • Ivana Y.

I've only been here once, but Ted's has left a very positive impression on me. Previous reviews by other Yelpers have waxed on about huge portions, and I'm going to have to agree with them--I had trouble finishing their 'side' Greek salad that came along with my chicken BLAT (that's bacon lettuce avocado and tomato), and suffice it to say only half of my BLACT (can you tell I'm having fun with this?) got devoured. Good stuff, but watch out for the butter on the bread. That said, their grilled cheese is probably out of this world. Plus for tradition : ]

  • D'Arcy C.

This place has really yummy comfort food. I practically lived on the biscuits and gravy sooo good. Their portions are nice and big and very inexpensive. I have been going here forever and the only bad thing I can say about it is that it gets really crowded sometimes especially on the weekends. It is so convenient with their drive-thru!

Not bad if you are hungry on the cheap. Came here for breakfast in the past couple of weeks and ordered a breakfast burrito. Saying the portions are large is an understatement. Overall it was OK.

  • James B.

This place has a crazy menu. You can pretty much get anything you want. Last time I was there I got their signature burger. It was a decent burger with lettuce, tomato, bacon, an onion ring and some secret sauce (looked like 1k Island). It was a little too big to fit in my my mouth so I took the huge tomatoes out. It also came with a huge pile of fries. I probably only ate a handful of them because the burger was more than enough. My coworkers got a breakfast skillet and a carne asada burrito. They both looked really good and my coworkers enjoyed the left overs just as much on the 2nd day for lunch again! I can see why this place has a cult following because the food is "fresher" and not cookie cutter like Denny's or IHOP (How can you compare Ted's to Denny's?!?!!?!), the older gentleman who took our order was very friendly and helpful, and the portions aren't cheap but they are huge and can be boxed up and eaten later. Most lunches cost anywhere for $6-$8 for one meal. But at Ted's you can get 1 for $10 and eat it twice. That's 2 $5 meals...I would say that's not hurting anyone's wallet.

come hungry. your money goes a long way here. very large portions AND the breakfast is good. breakfast burritos are awesome, so are the hot cakes and the French toast. I always come here for breakfast but the serve lunch and dinner as well.

I've always loved this place. The food is a bit greasy but you can't beat their breakfast burritos with sausage. Give it a try at least once if you live around the area.

Finally! A break from all the chain and over priced restaurants in this area of south county. Ted's Place markets themselves as "The best kept secret in Laguna Niguel" Maybe thats why theres only 3 reviews so far. You can pretty much get almost anything that you can think of here...Pastas, Gyros, Burritos, Steak...etc. Portions are HUGE! 1 teds meal and you wont need to eat for the rest of the day! trust me.

    (4)
  • Karen L.

I really enjoy this little restaurant in Laguna Niguel. They serve pretty big portions and their food is very good also! I like to get their breakfast burrito and share it with someone b/c it's too huge. I guess I would say that it's the equivalent of Denny's in terms of their menu. Food is much better though in my opinion!

    (5)
  • Houser S.

All the food here is made to order and it's greasy, not health conscious in any way. they thought I was nuts to order the french garlic bread plain without butter! But I did. Anyhow, I have had a variety of things on the menu, spaghetti and meatballs, gyro sandwich, breakfast stuff, fish and chips, all of it is superb and old school with humungous generous portions. You can eat two meals with one order!! At least, that is what I do! Perfect place for munchies and the need for comfort food! I love it! It has a drive thru, but it still takes a long time because they cook it as it's ordered! So do not go if you are in a hurry!

I love Teds. It's a secret hidden gem in the area. I love their Mexican stuff. Someone told me to come here instead of getting a burrito at whole foods. I saved my money and my belly thanked me. Whole foods is not 100% organic on burritos lol. I don't care. I will return

No matter what you want to eat you will find it here from tacos to steaks breakfast to dinner teds place has it all. There food is always tasty but not the heathliest choice for eating out, but if families want a good food and somewhere where everyone ca get what they want teds place is the place to go

  • Derek B.

Enormous menu. Portions are big so you do get value for what you pay for. They have peanuts and chips that you help yourself to while you wait. Salsa Bar is great and usually kept stocked up. Wife and Son love the self serve Orange Bang Machine. Wife usually gets breakfast food at all times of the day. Skillets are great and heavily portioned. They serve various types of Mexican and Greek dishes. You can pretty much split any item on the menu with someone, otherwise you might as well ask for a box to take the rest home.

Lots of delicious comfort food! Just went for Mother's Day and we thoroughly enjoyed it - time for a nap ;-) Staff is friendly and we had a laugh with one of the servers when she brought out a gigante wet burrito for another customer; I believe she laughed b/c I pronounced "gigante" correctly (I'm not Latino).

I absolutely ADORE this place. Great staff, AMAZING food, nice and big portions, and the best part? Not a chain. It's totally original. Breakfast, lunch, dinner? It's all here. Ted's is the best! Wow! It's amazing!!!

Ever since my wife and I moved to Laguna Niguel we have been coming to Teds at least a couple times a month. They have great breakfast burritos! I a would definitely recommend the bacon breakfast burritos not only are they huge but taste great. Other than the burrito, I usually get a burger or chili cheese fries. I did say 'or' since eating both would be difficult as the portions are big. If you like Knowlwood's and want a semi diner style place (without the table service) this is great place. I would definitely recommend it over farmer boys any day!

  • Stephi S.

The breakfast burritos are really good, the only problem is the wait. I ordered via the drive thru and waited close to 10+ minutes for my order to be ready. I can see they only had one cook working the orders. They had additional staff but I guess no one else was capable to assist, because they were all just standing around. There was another guy that may have been the manager, but all he did was wipe counters down and stock towels. I can also tell there were several orders backing up waiting to be filled. The food is good and portions are huge, but not worth that wait. Plus overall prices have increased and are higher than average for places like this.

  • Kimmy U.

Wow can this place have any more items on their menu? It's huge!! But every single time I go here, I always order the same thing: SAUSAGE BREAKFAST BURRITO! NOMMM. My absolute favorite! I haven't found one better than this breakfast burrito... and breakfast burritos are one of my favorite foods. It has so much in it- sausage, eggs, cheese, salsa, hashbrowns, guacamole maybe? I can't remember. It's just all so yummy And it's pretty big. I guess I could eat a whole one if I'm really hungry, but I usually just eat half. All their meals seem to be really big. I've gotten their fish and chips before too and they are pretty much the largest portion of fish and chips I've had. Their pieces of fish take up the whole size of the take-out container and they give you a lot of fries to go with it I've been going here since high school and their burritos haven't disappointed yet

Nothing ever changes here except for price hikes and now hidden charges. Been ordering eggs rancheros here for years and years from the same employees, heck, I'm even the duke here! Today like always I ordered my dish the same way and got hit by a $.50 charge with no explanation. It's things like this that force me to find other favorite restaurants for me to do business with. This is strike two for this place that I once held at 5 stars.

Went thru the drive thru on Saturday afternoon. Nobody came to the speaker to take my order. Cars behind we're honking and I could not get out. Finally decided the speaker must be broken so just proceeded to the window. Was in line over 20 minutes and the employee tried to give me somebody else's food. I explained I hadn't ordered and she argued and said I had to go back to the speaker. I repeated that nobody took my order after waiting at the speaker for 10 minutes. She finally agreed to take my order and asked me to pull around to the front of the restaurant (where I saw other drivers ordering at the speaker-don't get it but whatever...) another 10 minutes or so but it was totally worth the hassle and wait. Best fried zucchini ever, and the gyro was delicious (I personally did not like the addition of fries but ended up just taking them out). Huge portions - fresh, yummy, artery clogging, splurge!

Huge Menu With Anything You'd Want The portions are really just too large ... the staff hardly speaks much English and really not exceptionally friendly--can I get a smile please? Perfect greasy spoon ... quantity or quality?

Based only off the bacon breakfast burrito. Second only to Nick's in Seal Beach, but light years ahead of most. The salsa looked watery so I was skeptical but it was fresh and flavorful, maybe if it was hot it'd be amazing status. This is a once in a while treat.

HUGE portions! The fish and chips are delicious! The chicken is really good too. Everything else is pretty basic diner food. What's great is the menu is huge! It will satisfy all cravings but makes it harder to decide what you want to eat.

I have been going here since they changed the name from the Charbroiler, so that has to be at least 20 + years. It's a decent to good local Diner/Greasy Spoon. This is the place that you can order a Breakfast Burrito or a Gyros Sandwich and just about everything else in between. The dine in service is the type where you order, they cook it and call your number and they 'Plate it' on real plate v. packed in a Styrofoam container so you can take with you or eat it in. It's not amazing, they don't do any special dishes they just do variety of dishes that range all over classic American, Mexican dishes like burritos, tacos, taquitos and some very basic Greek - Gyros plates and sandwiches. If you go on a weekend when they are dishing up pancakes and egg dishes by several dozen an hour, your going to wait and probably get less than stellar service. However if you go on a weekday or weeknight, the food and service is generally better than average. It's your typical local, local Diner and If your a local or in the area it a nice spot for a quick meal that is pretty darn good and very fairly priced. Weekends are normally crowded so don't expect the best that Teds can deliver on either of those days.

Been going here since around 92 i guess. what can i say besides the food is huge, it's cafe style and the selection is outstanding. Only problem is the last 2 times i went with my family we saw bunches of roaches running around and most headed around the corner into the kitchen. besides that everything kicks major butt

  • Patric B.

Ted's is a diner - big portions, very casually served. The restaurant is beaten to death so don't expect ambiance - just expect food! I ate the special on Saturday - pork chops, and it was good. The specials come with a salad that is huge. Certainly is value for money. My wife doesn't like Ted's - she's into ambiance (which I find frustrating because I'm into food - good, basic food, which is what I get at Ted's). If you just need to eat, then Ted's is great. If you want to entertain over a slow meal, then Ted's is not for you. It's in, quick order, quick service, eat and out the door. That works well for me.

hands down best breakfast burrito i've ever had!

  • Paul G.

Although it is hard to beat their breakfast (burrito is my favorite) I often dine here with my son. The menu has a huge variety at a great price and as long as you stick to the basics it is usually very good. I have been going there for several years and highly recommend it!

  • Preston M.

Ok. This took place several years ago but it has altered my perspective of this place forever and I'll never go there again. So I love a good charbroiled anything and I was really craving a hamburger where I could taste the slight burn on it. Having lived in Laguna Niguel since 1988 I knew that my choices were limited to A's burgers which I find dry and lifeless and Ted's Place which I had never visited. So off to Ted's I go with visions of Sugarplums in my, sorry wrong fantasy. I went to Ted's hoping for a decent charbroiled burger and some greasy fries with a 1000 calorie milkshake to wash it down. Did I mention I brought a change of clothes with me as I was hoping that what I wore there wouldn't fit me anymore. I ordered my hamburger and stood next to the counter waiting for it to be prepared. Now here is the scary part. I noticed behind the counter there was a Hispanic person on his hands and knees with a rag in his hands scrubbing the floor. He looks up and sees the my ticket and standing up reaches into the cooler, grabs a hamburger patty and proceeds to cook it. My god he didn't even pretend to wash his hands. Once he finished my meal the counter person called my number and asked if there would be anything else. ANYTHING ELSE! I'll tell you there was something else as I read her and the cook the riot act about sanitation in food service in front of all of the current and potential customers in the place. I then demanded to see the manager and the counter person said that he was in his office and she would get him for me. A couple of minutes later she came out and told me that he was no longer there at which I replied to go back and let him know that if he wasn't there for a customer complaint I was going to contact the O.C. Health Dept. and file a complaint. After she was gone for a couple of more minutes she came back and told me that he still was not there. I demanded and received a refund. Long story longer I did file a complaint with the health dept. and they did investigate. The conclusion of the investigation was that the cook did admit to the infraction and they were ordered to improve their food service sanitation. Their attitude towards sanitation and failing to deal directly with customers complaints has lost them this customer for the rest of their existence as an operation as well as I will always recant this story to anyone who ask about the place.

was craving a breakfast burrito and came to Ted's because i hear people raving about Ted's all the time. it came out to be about 6$ for a burrito that's a bit skinnier than Alberto's and ehhh i was not blown away by it. I was expecting the typical burrito with eggs sausage.. etc but instead i got a mexican style type of breakfast burrito with salsa, guac, tomatoes, peppers.. and truth be told it was very hard for me to eat. it was bland and spicy just a weird combination.. dont think id go back.

Teds is a great place if you are in the mood for American/Mexican/Greek/asian fusion with a side of hash browns. The menu is ridiculous and I always change my mind about 6 times before I order. Great breakfast spot, bring your appetite.

    (4)
  • Buck J.

Really disappointed. The beef in the beef dip had quite a bit of gristle. We were shorted the fries. Counter personnel needs improvement, (attitude towards Caucasians very aloof).

  • andrew c.

unless you're in the mood for a gluten of a punishment, pass this by. the value for your money is awesome. where else can you get a plate of biscuits, gravy, bacon, sausage, toast, eggs and hash browns for under ten bucks? its next to impossible to finish the portions there.

    (3)
  • Fatty A.

Teds is the reason why I am so fat. The food isnt the best quality but its cheap and comes in pounds. Their menu is extensive ranging from every cuisine except for chinese. The pastrami burger is bigger than my fat head but it gets boring after a few bites. The main attraction for me is the breakfast. Each omlete is made with a dozen eggs with 5 pounds of hash browns on the side. If you aren't a fat ass like myself you shouldn't be coming here. Otherwise be a skinny ass and share with your skinny friends.

I've been going to Ted's Place for over ten years now. They are an awesome joint. Yes, I agree some of their items are greasy, but most are awesome and good tasting and they've done a lot within the past year to change what oils they use so it is less greasy. They have almost everything on the menu and Mr. Ted is an awesome guy. The resturant is usually crowed in the mornings and for dinner, especially weekends, but I recommend the burritos, the chicken strips and the burgers. AWESOME!

  • Mitsu M.

I wish this establishment was closer to where I live. I still manage to drive down here once in a while. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I stare at their menu. They got different specials all over the counter(depending on which day of the week and time of the day), walls, etc. I have hard time choosing. I have not come close to sampling every single item on the menu. That's saying something since I've been coming here since 2000. The portions are huge here! I have to doggy-bag it every time. I say my favorite items are breakfast and Fish N' Chips. But I have not gone wrong ordering anything from Mexican to Italian food. It does not have the best of international cuisine, but I love the fact that two ppl who can't agree on what type of cuisine to devour can both be happy dining here. If you're being health-conscious, they even offer salads on the menu. Decor can be little bit of an eyesore to some, but I like the run-down feel of an old diner. It goes perfect with these kinds of foods. P.S. They also have a drive-thru if you're on the run.

    (5)
  • Ben C.

I think the place is good but not great. The food is very greasy. The portions are huge and the breakfast is really what you go for. I also like their chicken tender and zucchini sticks. I agree with Karen that it is similar to a Denny's but maybe a little higher quality.

    (3)
  • Zack B.

Teds has something for everybody, and in most cases they've got a ton for everyone to choose from. They'd got it all, offering BBQ plates, fish and chips, kabobs, burritos, breakfast plates, deli sandwiches, gyros, and more. I'll run through and get a breakfast burrito to go every so often and you're not going to be able to find a better one in a drive through. It's a better alternative to the typical fast food joint.

    (4)
  • Gena S.

I ate at Teds place for breakfast for the first time. I should of got back in the car once I saw the drive thru but I kept going because the reviews were good . Inside looked like a fast food hamburger joint . $32.00 less in my pocket and the only thing that was just ok was the toast. The worst eggs, the worst potatoes the worst corned beef hash and the worst Bloody Mary. Took a few bites of each item and left the rest on my plate. I walked out to find somewhere else to eat. Gigi

I eat here all the time. There are endless choices and I always find something new and delicious to try. The staff is great and Ted himself will always stop over and talk personally to you. A wonderful gem of a restaurant.

We have been going to Ted's Place for at least 10 years. The servers have always been helpful and the food is cooked fresh. They serve ample portions - I fondly refer to it as volume eating. They have a fish and chips that we call Moby Dick ans his brother. Their "dinner" salad is a whole meal in of itself. Good place for kids and the whole family. We often go and have breakfast for dinner.

  • Andy P.

Growing up in Laguna Niguel, I had never stopped by Ted's Place for some odd reason. I finally took the plunge and brought my family here for breakfast one weekday morning. What definitely stood out was the hospitality and the large portion sizes. The menu itself may take an hour to read over, but once you've locked into a particular dish, more than likely you won't be disappointed. However, there is one caveat. This establishment basically serves all types of dishes when it comes to Mexican and traditional American. So try not to have such high expectations since it might be one of those, "jack of all trades, master of none" deals. The pancakes, breakfast sausages, hash browns, eggs, and toasts that I ordered were pretty good. For any dish you order, expect to be fed like a King. The portion sizes are tremendous. It would probably behoove anyone to order one complete plate and share it with someone. It's nice that they have self-serving chips and peanuts for you to munch on while waiting or to compliment your meal. There is also a full salsa bar with all the trimmings. Coffee is self-serve as well, which is kind of nice since you don't have to flag down a waitress for a re-fill. There is traditional coffee in a pot as well as premium flavors such as hazelnut and French vanilla. This is a place where you'll order and pay up front first before your food comes out. It didn't take us too long to receive our order. The wait staff were extremely friendly and enjoyed the company of our 3 year old daughter. I'll definitely need to try this place out again in the near future.

Meh. I arrived and was underwhelmed. Was waiting 15 min for an omelette, watching others who ordered after me have their food served before me. Omelette finally arrived, and yes the size was bigger than average, but the eggs were all brown and over cooked. Coffee is ok but only creamer is the little containers. While not terrible, I'm generous giving it two stars.

Best eatery in Aliso viejo. It's been around for over 20 years....but it being around for so long does it no justice in determing the deliciousness that is "Ted's". It's fairly cheap, huge quanitites, and even better taste in their food. One of the best places I've ever eaten hands down.

This pace was a pleasant surprise. Not the fanciest looking pace, but good breakfast food, good service and large meal. Can't go wrong, and I will definitely go back.

Always generous servings at a reasonable price. The kielbasa is great with eggs at breakfast and the pancakes cannot be beat. Try the fish and chips any day. The 3 piece is enough for two.

Great breakfast burrito. Salsa is made fresh. They are open early. The staff is friendly. I would east here again.

My husband and 1 yr. Old came here for breakfast on Sunday around 10am. It was full inside but not a huge wait and we were able to find a seat outside. My husband ordered a waffle, I ordered their pancake special with scrambled eggs and bacon and added a orange juice. We tried to order a side of fruit for our son but they said they had no fruit. This bothers me that people can't think outside the box, they have bananas and blueberries that you can add to your pancakes and orange slices that they put on certain plates. To bad I just didn't order fruit with my meal, I guess that's the only way you can get some fruit. When our order did come the server lady dropped if off real quickly and turned around so fast but my husband said "excuse me" and she kept walking away (but we know she heard us) as she delivered our neigbors food we caught another servers attention and asked if we can get some more butter for my husbands waffle (it was extremely dense) and she looked at his plate and said "there's butter on it already" and she turned and walked away. WOW! Who is the manager of customer service here!? We don't expect much but for some simple butter...sheesh! Then I noticed I was missing my OJ. I knew she wasn't coming back so I went up to the front where we placed our order and asked for my OJ and the lady just looked at me bothered then asked "well I dunno, what size did you order!" I wasn't sure myself as when I ordered it with the same lady I just said orange juice. She asked me for my receipt (which makes sense but I just "snuck away" from my baby and if I have to try to come back with my receipt it going to be hard!) And she clearly saw that I had nothing in my hands or my purse. So I just said forget it. Shortly there after the server brought me a small OJ, thank goodness because I was thirsty! Needless to say I will NEVER got back. They are in the same shopping center as IHOP and I rather go there which is sad because I always try to support the independent business. Oh well, if any of these circumstances happened at IHOP there would be someone who would be able to correct and help out. I hope my 2 stars are justified.

Had the #7 three eggs with hash brown and toast. They made my eggs over easy instead of over well like I asked, but that's okay. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and the coffee is really good for not being a coffee shop (in my experience diners have really bad coffee). Another thing I really appreciated about my visit was that the ladies bathroom was very clean. It's a casual place and the food is what you would expect. Recommend this place for smaller groups and fuss free breakfast out.

For fast foods, Ted's is better than the chains. They have great chips and salsa, and its all you can eat for free. I think this place has an identity crisis. It can't decide what cuisine to be. They served breakfast all day, and they have burgers, fish & chips, Mexican food, Greek food, even Italian food. Breakfast seems to be best there, the rest are meh.... My 3 star rating is only based on fast food comparison.

Tried this place this weekend and it was ok, my boyfriend had the chicken breast salad which he said was just ok cause it had dry chicken in it and way to much corn and onions. I had the wet burrito which was good and feeling but the beans and rice that came with it were both dry and tasteless so I didn't eat much of them. Might try something different there next time before final decision on the place. They do give alot of food though so, that is a plus

Huge menu selection! Portions are large, so go there hungry. Breakfasts are really good if you like the basics - pancakes, eggs, etc. Skillets are great! Breakfast burritos are also very good. Have a relatively large Mexican food menu which I am slowly working my way through. No disappointments so far. Tacos and burrito plates are great. Service is friendly and fast depending on how busy it is, which it generally is at breakfast on the weekends. Nothing fancy, so don't go there expecting fine dining - but if you are looking for a good value and are really hungry, this is the place.

Teds is a great place to eat for breakfast. Not only one of the best spots to eat in Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel, but in all of Orange County!

Every time I order the same thing the RUDE lady at the drive through charges me a different price. Double cheeseburger with avocado and bacon, with fries and a drink usually comes out to around $14.55 or $15.69 and they charged me $2 for two sides of ranch. The other day, I order the same thing, I give her my card and she swipes it, then after she gives me my card and receipt, says "do you want ranch? (and she says it with a rude smile, and i said yes, "that will be two extra dollars" i give her my card and she says CASH ONLY unless you buy more to make the transaction bigger" SO,,, I said, you know what? put my money back on my card I am not coming back here any more. RUDE STAFF, OVER PRICED FOOD! (The prices keep going UP!) Delicious food... but not worth it!

Ted's has held a mythical place in my mind for the better part of the last 5 or 6 years. I had eaten here once before, years ago, and it left a sizeable impression on me. All I could recall was good food & big portions. After eating here this week, I'm happy to report that none of that has changed. They've got a massive menu here, with side menus, special menus & a hulking main menu assaulting you from all sides. It's best to have a rough idea of what you want before you come in, otherwise you'll spend 20 minutes trying to figure out what sounds best. I almost went with the turkey burger combo until I noticed the special of the night: 1/2 BBQ chicken dinner w/ salad, potatoes and onion rings for $9.99. Sold. While I waited for my food, the server brought out my salad. This was the side salad that comes with the meal? It practically was a meal unto itself. This mountainous mound of roughage was chock full of lettuce, onions, cucumber, tomatoes, a hard boiled egg, pepperoncinis, olives and carrots. It was seriously huge. I had only made it halfway through when my food arrived. I'm shocked the woman didn't use a dolly to get it to the table. One huge platter had a half chicken bathed in a sea of BBQ sauce a 1/2" thick. The other featured onion rings and a bowl of mashed potatoes & gravy large enough to wade in. And everything was So. F'in. Good. The chicken was moist & succulent - perfectly cooked and seasoned with a liberal amount of sauce to dip it in. The potatoes were awesome with the gravy. I'm normally not a fan of restaurant gravy, but this mix was mild enough to add flavor to the spuds without overpowering them. I couldn't stop myself once I got going, and before I knew it I had left a plate of skin & bones and a mostly-empty bowl of potatoes. Easily one of the most satisfying meals I've had in a long time. Epic, really.

Since it's just down the hill, I had to try Ted's out. I went through the drive through. Ordered... Cheeseburger - Pretty good Thursday Special (BBQ Chicken) - Delicious! The burger came with delicious onion rings. The Special came with a salad, huge portion of mashed potatoes, bread and tortillas. The food was pretty good and the service in the drive though was pleasant. I'll come here from time to time.

Ive been coming here a very very long time. Used to frequent this place around 2/3 times a week when i was a fatty. I honestly dont care about how a restaurant looks like, i think its a poor thing to rate a food establishment on, the only thing that matters. Oh yeah its clean, that's all that matters. The staff is nice enough they are real hardasses when they mess up, they don't really go out of their way to be 10/10 in this department but they have never angered me and keep me happy usually. Pricing is OK, its a little costly if you aren't a heavy eater, but if you are you really cant be this place price wise. A gigantic wet burrito with sides and a drink for 10 dollars? You really can't beat that. The food is usually really good, they give you massive portions and there is a massive variety. I can honestly say that i have never once gotten bored for eating here because they have everything you could possibly imagine on the menu, and they do it pretty well too. Breakfast is pretty good and filling, The burritos are pretty good ( get carnitas with green sauce), and the burgers are consistently well made. They have some random items i don't recommend, but you usually are asking for it when you order it. Recommended: Wet burrito, monster burger ( both are 10$ and filling), fried mushrooms/zucchini, and the tapioca pudding ( its good in its own awful way) In conclusion you will either come here once and piss off, or you will be like me and visit this place many many times. Hopefully you end up liking it because nothing hits the spot like this place sometimes.
